Entrance by audition.
This Course explores the work of Sanford Meisner and his approach to acting.
The first half of the term explores the first element of ‘living truthfully moment to moment within a given set of circumstances’ and explores the ideas of public solitude, investing in the reality of doing, and there is regular facilitation and practise of the ‘repetition’ exercises. This work helps the students to make the transition from preliminary ideas about a role to actually breathing oxygen and spontaneity into it, keeping each performance fresh and alive both for themselves and an audience.
The second half of the term explores the latter concept of ‘the given set of circumstances’ and will introduce ideas of preparation and exploring of text. At the end of the term there will be an assessed performance using the principles of Meisner within the realms of a fully fleshed-out, short text duologue performance. |
